Last week I stumbled upon a directions from a Norwex consultant for making microwave popcorn with the Norwex Silicone Lids. I knew my kitchen whiz daughter Maren would love to do this! We typically use a stovetop popcorn device called an Aladdin, it’s one of my top 3 favorite kitchen tools, but it requires nimble fingers to prevent burns. Since most microwave popcorn has BPA lining on the inside of the bags to prevent sticking, we’ve always avoided microwave popcorn, but this is an easy and kid friendly way to independently prepare a snack.
Maren experimented until she found the best method:
1/2 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
1/4 C. popcorn
Directions
Add 1/2 Tablespoon of coconut oil to a medium sized microwave safe glass bowl. Melt in microwave for 10 seconds. Spread oil over sides of bowl.
Add 1/4 C. popcorn
Cover with large Norwex Silicone Lid
Microwave 1-2 minutes. Stand close and listen, your microwave may vary.
We serve with sea salt.
(Another fun and sweet variation that Maren loves- add 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of white sugar to the melted oil before adding the popcorn.)
